Photo Viewer broken after update

Customer's main Windows 10 business computer got updated this week and it "seemed" to be ok until they tried to open a photo and Windows pops up a "file not found" error dialog quoting the full path of the photo onto which I have just clicked. Googled around and discovered this is a common Windows 10 problem with a variety of solutions, none of which actually worked. It has a temp folder in %appdata% which I cleared out. I could see the app was still associated because it was trying to run but was somehow failing on startup.

After a while I decided to see if I could open the photo viewer app from the menu which it did. It all seemed to be normal. I opened and closed it a couple of times without error then I clicked on a photo and this time it was displayed correctly.

I take it from this the Windows 10 update somehow broke the photo viewer app but running it stand-alone allowed it to reset it's configuration or something.
 
99.9% of my Windblows 10 clients hate the native photo viewer in Windows 10.
However they love the much speedier "Windows Photo Viewer" from Windows 7 so to get it back for them I just run this.
Save it as a .reg file and add it to the registry. You can then select it as the default photo viewer.

Hey Glenn, I have had an issue where a customer uses it for there business to take pictures off a camera a couple of times a day. There is a bug that when the history of file locations fills up it stops working. Have to go in and clear the history manually. Even removing app and reinstalling doesnt fix this.
I think it is SETTINGS - SOURCES or some such and then clear each source. I have tried to get the client to move to another program but they love the import feature and have a work instruction built around it.
