RAID Array 1 Failure

Hey all. Hoping to get some help with this one. Have a client that has a Seneca Data Server running Windows Server 2008. The RAID controller is an LSI MegaRAID SAS 9260-8i. The hard drives are setup as a RAID 1 with 2 Seagate Cheetah 15k HD's, Model #ST3300657SS. One of the drives failed and we ordered a duplicate hard drive to match everything. When the client put the drive in it did not automatically rebuild. The MegaRAID controller software shows the drive as: Uncofigured Bad (Unsupported), (512B). When I right click on the drive to mark it as GOOD, specifically it says: CHANGE TO UNCOFIGURED GOOD, when i click on that option it gives me an error message that says: OPERATION FAILED: ErrorCode - 0xc. I have looked all over to find the meaning of the error code but have not found anything. Anyone else run into this issue? Any ideas how to mark the drive as good and add it back to the RAID 1 array?

Already performed a full disk image using Acronis 12.5. It is "just" a security camera server and the data is on a separate RAID 5 Array that is functional. The client said if it goes down its not that big a deal but would rather do the job right. I emailed Broadcom as well as they must have bought out LSI.

I'm guessing that isn't a new drive? If not, it's probably either bad or was used in another array and not wiped properly. Put the drive into something else, like an external enclosure, and clean/wipe it. Then try. If you get the same error on the other enclosure... well then you know what your problem is anyways!

I was thinking the same thing about the drive. They bought it on Ebay which you never know but the description did not say new or used and because it is an old drive model there is a good chance of it being used. I did hear back from Broadcom and he is thinking the same thing. His response was "That is a symptom of a drive that is 4k native advanced format which is not compatible with the 9260 controller. But this drive is on our compatibility list." He also said could be bad port and he wants me to send him some log files. I will do that now and follow up.

yeah if its from eBay assume its total crap. That's my experience at least :( eBay just isn't worth the amount of time it can waste, unless you can find good sellers that you can trust.

Yep, almost guaranteed not new if it's from eBay. That drive dates back almost 10 years so new ones will probably be hard to come by. Given the costs of drives, if it was me, I'd suggest they just replace the pair with a couple of new 250gb SSD's. They are under $100 dollars these days.
