Rails for HP Proliant DL120 Gen7

I'm trying to find rails that fit a HP Proliant DL120 Gen7 1U server. According to HP's site, it says the appropriate part number is 573091-001. I've checked eBay and purchased a set with that part number about a month ago. But when the rails arrived, they didn't fit at all. No screw holes would line up. I contacted the seller and got my money back. Not sure if they were the wrong ones sent to me or what. I've asked a few other eBay sellers and 2 responded saying 573091-001 don't fit my server. Again, a second HP site says they will.

I looked into getting a 4-post 1U rackmount shelf to lay the server on but man, crazy expensive. Rails seem to be a lot cheaper and preferred way, if I can find ones that fit. Never been this frustrated with server rails. Have had easy experiences with rails for Dell and Supermicro servers in the past. Any ideas?

Does the box have stuff on the sides, such as pegs, or is it smooth. I've not seen one of those but all the recent models I've worked with had hardware on the sides to mount in rails. Mount the rails in the rack, extend them, then drop/slide the server into the rails.

Smooth. I see 5 screws that I suppose could be backed out and the rails then screwed into the holes. Like I said, I'm familiar with Dell and Supermicro servers. Really easy rails to install. This HP server is a conundrum to me. I did some more looking around and I've found some cheap universal 1U 4-post "rails" that would work. They are more like a shelf, but only 1-2" of steel on each side that the server sits on, nothing screwing into the case of the server. I may end up getting that if I can't get official HP rails.

Also forgot to mention this is for a personal project, nothing for any of my clients.

HP's are just as easy as the Dells....raised studs on side of chassis that "drop-snap" into the inner glide rail...and then the outer larger rail housing which tool-less snaps into the cabinet posts.

Then I must be missing something here or rails aren't available for my server. There are no studs on the outside of the chassis. I'll take a photo in a min.

Yep, missing something. There are usually two of those pegs on each side on servers I have seen. Sometimes they are directly attached to the side and sometimes they are part of a rail that is screwed onto the chassis sides. Usually one towards the end and one towards the front. They would drop into and slide back into J slots on both side rails. I'll upload a pic from my R710 in a little while.

Here is a close up. My R710 actually has three on each side. It's been years since I have seen any other type of mounting systems.

I can't make it out enough in those pics....
I've done hundreds and hundreds of DL3xx series and some 5xx series...never a 100 series. But I can't imagine the DL100 series is much different of a chassis than the base DL320.

I ended up getting some 1U generic 4-post shelves on eBay for cheap. They look like this:

I mounted them upside down, put the server on top and screwed the 2 ear screws into the rack. It's enough to hold the server. I can't slide the server out since there are no rails, but this best solution I could find.

I mounted them upside down,

That'll work...the shelf type rails like that often get put into purpose like that. It didnt' fit width-wise with the rails in the normal positiion? So the 1U server sat "in them"? Therefore keeping the rack usage at 2 U's instead of 3.

Haven't done a DL100 series either, but it looks like they are indeed stud-less.

Looks like these are the type of rails used:

Those are for G6 DL120 servers, which don't fit. I bought some on eBay that didn't fit. Thankfully the seller was kind enough to offer a full refund and return shipping. I asked a few other eBay sellers and all said those rails won't fit.

Yeah wouldn't fit width wise. I have a 22U rack with only like 5 or so U used. So I have room to waste.
