Okay, I've had this issue before and I could not remember how to fix it. Tired of brawling with it, figured someone would have the quick fix here. Unit was on Windows 7; Client had done the Windows 10 upgrade pretty early on. Never had an issue.

Client had the computer N&Ped by me.

Audio worked before under Windows 10. Now it only plays through the little onboard speaker like HP/Dells like to do. No front, no rear. No input or output.

I first left it at the default Windows driver, to no avail. All the ports show 'Device not connected' except the little internal speaker.

Went to HP's website, got the (older) Realtek driver. Installed and rebooted. Shows the right number of ports, but never auto-detects when you plug in something, even having the HD Audio panel up. Tried all the common fixes (The options inside the panel.) This one doesn't let you manually select a port and change status. Removed & reboot.

Next I tried SDI Origin's driver for audio. Went through all the same stuff. No luck. Just never detects anything. Removed and rebooted.

Next I tried the bulk Realtek driver straight from their site. Same thing.

Just in case, I reinstalled Windows a second time onto another drive (I have moved clients data all back in place), to no avail.

Halp please!

and thats about the time I tell the customer about the wonderful world of 10 dollar usb sound cards.
Hehe. Thought just jumped in my head. I just plugged in a set of amplified speakers, and there is a horrendous static on the front and rear output, and nothing on the inputs (as should be.) I'm assuming something has static fried it.
