Recommendation for a multiplatform TO-DO app?

I'm looking for a good multi-platform app for basic check-list type to-do notes. I have an app called SplenDO which is exactly the functionality I want, but is Android only. I just need a quick "add task" button that makes a checkbox entry, and then I can just hit the checkbox and it goes away. Bonus for being able to repeat a task every week too. It also needs to be able to sync from Windows, Android, and Linux. Preferably Mac too for future proofing :)

Would also like hearing if you guys have a better way of keeping track of all the little minor tasks in life and not letting any of them slip through the cracks of human memory.

Marriage.
Unfortunately the "Marriage" software application can't make up its mind on many matters because of the input being delivered incorrectly, it is NEVER the applications fault - always the end users - resulting in a complete crash of the program. It can sometimes take many hours of coaxing and encouragement for the application to start working again but after a crash the application is very "touchy" and can crash instantly (again) if the input from the end user is unsuitable.
Walking away and just leaving the application to calm down can have a positive effect and make the application work again, but at other times the application will simply refuse to continue and it is then up to the end user to go it alone!
Be aware that misuse of the Marriage application can have serious ramifications resulting in washing not being done, dinner not being served or sleeping on the sofa as examples!

Sounds like Telstra...

You just need to re"boot"!

You just need to re"boot"!

The "application" will work seamlessly if given respect, love, care and copious quantities of flowers and chocolate!
I think re"booting" in this instance would be heavy handed and unnecessary! Not to mention probably illegal, and would result in graver ramifications than those previously mentioned! It may even cause the "Police" Antimalware program to be invoked, which would certainly put the Application at odds with the end user! Many smaller "child" processes may be distressed enough to crash as well!
A good working relationship between the "Application" and end user is possible if all the add-ons and upgrades/updates are applied at the correct time.
Regular "Patch Management" is vital in keeping the Application (and the aforementioned "child" processes) happy!

Remember the Milk is my favorite. It's free, but the Pro edition is definitely worth it.

I've been using Remember The Milk (Pro) for about 3yrs now. Each year near subscription time, I look around at other options to see if anything look better. Nothing so far. Remember the Milk has incredible flexibility and can handle any task workflow you could imagine.

I like ToodleDo, but if your needs are as basic as you describe just use the built-in Tasks on your Android phone. 99% chance that syncs with the Tasks in GMail/Calendar, it's available in a web browser anywhere, and I wouldn't be surprised if it syncs to iPhones as well as long as you have your GMail account on there.

No repeating events though.

What advantages does it have over Wunderlist?

I haven't had time to do a micro analysis , but reading Wunderlist reviews led me to believe that I am not missing out on any workflow capabilities, or GTD methodologies.

RTM has an expansive feature set, and awesome quick add task by single line by email or from within the app

For example: Fix PC77 #Customer1 @location ^8/4/2017 !2 =30min
Add task "Fix PC77" to Project/list Customer1 at "location", duration 30min, due 8th April. Priority 2

Of course all can be mouse driven too. But that one line can be added to an email subject.

I also like searching and converting them to Smart lists too.

Subtasks, fast synch, Gmail calendar integration. There is also a task view panel right inside Gmail.

See https://www.rememberthemilk.com/tour/

Nothing in Wunderlist looked to give me an edge of using Remember Milk

I looked closely at ToDoist, and liked the look of the gmail integration where you could add an email directly to your task list, but I wondered how often I would do that, because one of these days I want to get a proper ticketing system to add such work to, and capture all the job info and emails. So I think that a task list tool like Remember The Milk or Wunderlist for me should be less about managing customer facing tasks (if I had ticketing software in place) and more about managing internal tasks and internal/client projects. It really requires one to consider your whole business workflow.

Oh nice yeah I don't think its got that kind of control on the email to task function.

Stay away from todoist, I don't know how good it is these days but they are constantly creating bugs and all it takes is one to screw you over.
Edit: Also todoist support doesn't have access to their services logs, they merely collect your complaint, try to duplicate it and possibly pass it along to a developer. They do not have the power to actually check and see why something happened like for example a recurring task disappeared.

Guess I'll provide an update since it's been awhile since my OP. I've tried most of the suggestions here, and liked Google Keep and Wunderlist. However their Android app just wasn't what I wanted from it.

I'm a widget kind of guy. I don't like opening full screen apps and waiting for them to load just to quickly check things. And their notification abilities were lacking too.

I ended up finding Any.Do had everything I want. It has an "always there" notification in the drop down notifications area so whenever I get a text or email and look at the notification I see a reminder about the next thing I need to do. It also has a resizable widget so I can easily see the next several coming up, without opening the app. You can make new tasks from either screen too, and supports voice translation. Very sleek look, good web app (no PC app, but easy enough to auto open a website when logging in on windows.

EDIT: wow, didn't realize how big the pics were when I posted from my phone. I took some screenshots to show what I like about the android app, but I'll put them in spoilers.
