Recover lost gmail account

A client had a gmail account created by a friend who did not supply them with the password but set up an automated way of signing in which broke. The user does not know the password and extra information which we sent was not good enough to reopen the account.

The user has more information which he can supply to identify his old account but there does not appear to be any way to contact Google to provide them with this information?

How can this account be reopened?

Welcome to the cloud, where your data and access to it, most certainly do not belong to you. Unfortunately, Google are terrible on purpose at providing any human customer help and not much better at providing useful solutions to problems such as your client has.

Why can't the "friend" provide the necessary details? If the client and friend have fallen out, there is probably no chance of recovering the email account password.

adam_chevyss,

Thanks, but I already have been through this first level and what we provided wasn't good enough. The user has other useful information but does not know how to provide it.

sassenach,

I'll have to contact the one who did the original install and try to find where he loaded the password.

I figured as much, well good luck.

An "automated way of signing in"? I'd be curious to know more about that.

And the login info isn't saved in your client's browser? Maybe he logged in one time before the "automated way"? http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/internet_explorer_password.html
