remote 7 repair install

We have been so behind and are finishing up with our residential managed clients who still have windows 7 and also have SSDs, we are offering a remote 10 upgrade. One of these has failed so we need to do a repair install of 7 to make it work. Our original idea was to upload a zipped file of the 7 install dvd, but dropbox will not sync any of the zipped files we create. Our next thought was to upload an iso file of the 7 install disc to dropbox and then download it to them, then use a program to mount it. Are there any free ones? We could always send them a disc via snail mail. Any other suggestions?

MS has a free utility for mounting. We will probably just do the iso with it.

I avoid using ZIP's to upload files unless it's my own server. So many "public" ones parse the zip contents and as soon as they see .exe's, 'com's .dll's, etc they block them because of potential malware threats. So I'll TAR them and use 7-zip, free open source, to unpack them.

Why not use the media creation tool directly on the user's PC (using remote support) and download the iso from MS's servers? I did an upgrade last week where it wouldn't connect to the MS servers for some reason, so I used G-Drive as a temporary source, having uploaded the iso to it beforehand.

Edit: It was a W10 iso in my case, but the same approach could be used to get a W7 ISO.

If you have the Product Key, you can download it here.

Edit: There is also Heidoc.net but I have not had any success with it the many times I've tried. I suspect if a donation is made, success will be higher. :)

I just downloaded Win 7 (August 2018) from heidoc.net with no problems. Are you using the latest downloader? I always update the downloader and have never had a problem. Don't think I've ever made a donation.

I did not know you could do that with Windows 7 like you can 10

I did use the latest downloader but always get an empty window with a footer that says..."upload_2020-4-15_21-1-42.png
and if I drag that window aside, I get the download selection window. If I select Win 7 H.P., I get ...

However, if I select Win 7 August 2018, it downloads. :) I tried the Ultimate version and also got the problem mentioned earlier. Thanks for the suggestion.

Maybe I did not notice this yesterday. There's a link to explain why downloading Win 7 is hit or miss:

Glad I'm a packrat... download once, keep forever....
