I would do a poll, but figured that those that want to share will anyway. I would like to know what an average is for remote support pricing, just to make sure I am being competitive.

So, what are you charging for remote support if you charge, I know a lot of you add it in your services.

15 min
30 min
45 min
1 hour
Project pricing?

I am at $119 for tech, $139 for Outlook and Office 365.

$125 non-contract rate with 1 hour minimum then 15 min increments. $75 for contract clients that have incidents that aren't covered under contract. Billed in the same manner as non-contract.

@Mike good price for just starting. As you get out there more and more confident you will raise your prices. We have all done it.

@Slaters Kustum Machines yep, figured you were at that rate and in Iowa...good job!

@sapphirescales nice, I remember jumping from $99 to $119 for tech. Once you get better, you are worth it and you get rid of the tire kickers, you get serious clients at that rate (from my past exp)

@TechLady Sounds about right, many charge the same. I did for many years.

@stro NICE, keep that up in the rural!!! Farmers have money. No joke.

Thanks everyone for feedback!!!! Looking forward to more rates!

$105/hour one hour minimum, then 15 minutes increments. But for existing customers I'll just accumulate calls in 15 minutes increments and bill at the end of the month. Of course I tell them if they are accruing billable time.

My hourly shop rate ($60/hr CAD) but half-hour minimum, then $1/minute after that. It's mainly for my existing customers, so I let them mail me a cheque. For some of my customers who do a lot of calls/jobs/month, I send a cumulative invoice after each call, to keep them apprised of the accumulating total, and make the total payable at month-end.

I charge $120 for on site service with 2 hr min. To encourage user to use Remote Support, I charge $80 (min 1hr) and $20 /15 min incr for troubleshooting. But for projects or job like email migration, it's a flat rate based on volume

I also charge $50/yr to put them on GFI (inventory) and activate Team Viewer. Free to people who has referrals (not too bad for $5/yr investment)

My remote rates and my on site rates are the same. $60 per hour, billed $20 per :20. On site I charge an On Site fee based on mileage, and I also have a 1 hour minimum.

After reading some of the comments on the site, I may be adjusting my rates.

My actual billed rates are between $25-50 per hour in the Houston area. I try to bill at $100, but customers demand to know exactly how much ahead of time. By the time I've quoted a fixed price and get finished it usually takes twice as long or longer due to unforeseen issues. At this point, I've done the work, so I take what I can get. This is residential or home office. Business (greater than 5 users) is completely different. I usually get between $100 to $120 on business calls. I try not to take residential calls unless I'm in a giving mood.

Ours is the same rate as on-site except it's billable in 15 minute increments. That happens to be $75/hr for home users or $100 for businesses. We don't do much remote support though.

Thus far, my remote rate has been user initiated. That is, they send me what they think is fair. I keep trying to come up with a remote pricing for my services and haven't come up with anything that I like, thus far.

For non-contract remote support we bill $60/hr in 15 minute increments. For contract and project work the hourly can fluctuate greatly depending on the client and/or project.

Onsite rate - $26 travel, $99 / hr, 1 hr min, half hour increments

Remote - $69 an hour, half hour increments

Anytime a customer presses us for a time frame, I tell them 2-3 hours. Most things can be resolved in that time frame. But always make it clear that you charge for your time, not for the job, and that they can ask you to stop at any point and pay for the time you've got there.

Unless I'm dealing with an XP machine that has 512mb of RAM, most issues can be cleared up in 1.5 hrs.

For home users we charge $85 /hr. Half hour minimum, then 15 minute increments. Current clients are billed monthly, new clients are billed one hour up front, then settled after the session.

Our business MSP clients often prepay for 'x' hours a month to be included in their yearly contract.
