Hello Everyone,

I was wondering what repairs or parts replacement are possible for the new MacBook 12" Retina models. I have been trying to make a list, and I also went through iFixit. For example, I don't know if the battery can be replaced on those models or not? The model number I am talking about is A1534.

So here is a list, can someone let me know if its possible to replace or repair some of these parts on the A1534 model
  • Screen Assembly = Yes as far as I can see.
  • Battery = Not sure!
  • Trackpad = Yes
  • Keyboard = Not sure! I have seen keyboards for sale in the US, not UK, not sure.
  • Audio Jack Board = Yes
  • Dual Microphone Assembly Replacement = Yes
  • Speakers = Yes
  • Logic Board = Yes
  • USB C = Yes
Have I missed anything else that can be repaired? Please let me know as I am trying to make a comprehensive list of possible repairs and available parts for this model.

Thank you.

I don't think I'd attempt a repair on those new ones. They use so much adhesive these days to put those things together I'd be worried about getting it back together. Did you look at the other sites for info, like everymac.com, powerbookmedic.com, etc?

Thanks Mark. Yes I have. I have some various how to guides etc. However, I wanted to double check with some fellow professionals because there is still not much info out there because its still quite new.

As an apple authorised service provider we get all the proper tools and training from Apple, on how to repair all of the different models, and I still don't want to ever have to do a repair on the new MacBook!

We did a screen last week... a keyboard has about 140 screws... doable.

All devices are repairable just depends upon work needed and parts needed
And with Apple parts, eventually most everything you need becomes available. For Macs, it's helpful to have good sources of "almost new" parts. I have a place locally where I can pick up pulled parts in an emergency.
