You can't make this stuff up... from Apple's UI main designer, Jony Ive and other sources.. Apple's iOS 7 to look more like Windows Phone 8.
LOL, perhaps windows 8 was before it's time

According to multiple people who have either seen or have been briefed on the upcoming iOS 7, the operating system sports a redesigned user-interface that will be attractive to new iOS users, but potentially unsettling for those who are long-accustomed to the platform…

The new interface is said to be “very, very flat,” according to one source. Another person said that the interface loses all signs of gloss, shine, and skeuomorphism seen across current and past versions of iOS. Another source framed the new OS as having a level of “flatness” approaching recent releases of Microsoft’s Windows Phone “Metro” UI.

Ive has a different design philosophy from Forstall and even former CEO Steve Jobs. Both were huge fans of having life-like interfaces.

The new interface is "very flat," meaning a simpler and starker user experience. The level of "flatness" can be compared to the tile icons on Windows 8.
The interface is losing all signs of skeuomorphism, or graphics that mimic real-life objects.
Despite the seemingly huge change, iOS 7 is reportedly not more difficult to use than earlier versions. It'll look slightly different, but the basics are all there.
The changes also include an all new icon set for Apple's native apps like email, calendar, clock, etc.

Apple being a very "Green" company decided they should harness the power of Jobs spinning in his grave to power a generator. They sell off the extra energy at a premium.

This is the problem with your company existing to serve shareholders above all else.

Sorry, Apple is not a "green" company, and they no longer claim to be... nor were they ever, really, green. They left EPEAT standards and use the most coal-based power than almost anyone else. In fact, Apple is likely to be the WORST offender in tech. It has only been now, in 2013 that Apple has just started building and using PV and bio-fuel solutions.. They are way behind.

Apple named 'least green' tech company
Apple's green image continues to be dirtied

To be fair to WIN8 it actually a half decent GUI on tablets and phones. Unfortunately for MS they seemed to forget on the core market of desktops & laptops it a hinderence to productivity especially for business apps where the mouse is still king (where the majority of their profits come from)

I read this and as with all things I read on the interwebs took it with a grain of salt. They may get rid of most of the skeuomorphism but I don't think iOS is going to look anything like Win 8. If it does I'll do a video of me shooting my iPhone and buy an Android phone.

No matter what Apple does there's no way they make anything stupider looking than the log on stick figure icon in Windows 8.
