Besides a good backup strategy (cloud + local) and educating users not to fall for phishing attempts or attachments from unknown senders - what kind of tech do you implement to avoid ransomware in a small office (10-100 users, with and without onsite server, with and without DC)? Thank you all.

You've covered the biggies.

Most infections do not "come in the back door" but are directly invited in through end user actions. Training employees on what they should never, ever, ever click on or open in e-mail or when pop-ups during web use appear is the most critical step. People are the weakest link in the security chain.
