Is it possible in any way to reset newer samsung tablets without gmail account info? Customer doesn't have password and of course had an old phone number no longer in use for resetting gmail account etc.

When doing factory reset it still requires signing in. Didn't know if somehow putting on the default OS to an sd card and resetting that way would make a difference. Can't seem to find any answers out there on that other than just reset google account.

Thank you,

Landon

Make a new Google account? A factory reset should allow you to proceed without requiring a Google account

While off... press and hold the volume DOWN, HOME button and the Power button to get into Android System Recovery mode. From there you can do a factory reset.

Even after doing a factory reset it makes you sign into previously used google account. I'll post a pic of it after bit when I get back.

I believe it said android version 5.1 and later systems may require that.

Yep, you can't just reset tablets now, it's an anti-theft measure. They must be properly released. Buy a new one.

Unless you jail break it and load a custom firmware...

Is that even worth trying for a basic samsung tablet? I haven't really done any jail break on any devices in quite some time. This particular person would want things to pretty much be close to the normal samsung android os I'm sure.

You didn't quite state, can you get into the tablet? Or did he forget his tablet password/pin/pattern?

Google account is tied to the tablet. So when doing a factory reset it makes you sign into the google account that was associated with the tablet. They basically tried factory resetting it for whatever reason.....and they didn't disconnect the google account before doing so...and they can't get into that gmail account...so basically the tablet is stuck there until you can get into the said gmail account...no option to get around it by default options.

On gmail you can reset a password if you know year and month of creation of the account but just wow how the heck did I miss a website like rootjunky,, oh well there goes my week-end.

Yep they didn't have that info either lol.

No luck using a converter. This tablet is usb-c by the way on the charger port if anyone was wondering. I ordered a usb-c flash drive to try out just in case but I'm guessing that won't do it either. I'll update back on if that works. So since the video was from 2015 something may have been updated that doesn't allow the settings to pop up now. We'll see once I get flash drive. I should have it tomorrow, but converter did not work with a normal usb flash drive.

The model number given SM-T800 tells me it's micro USB 2.0.

It's possible the newer version of Android on it doesn't have that "exploit".
