Edit: There was access to a download of hundreds of laptop schematics that came with registration to "Laptop Repair Training College," which registration only cost me $65 or so, IIRC. Those, plus the other information there, were a good find, and a steal.

Just a warning about this link https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B2Two5KUvEqRR2JqeFVMdUZKMHc&usp=sharing I downloaded them all a few weeks ago and both MBAM & Bitdefender flagged up some infections. I cleaned them out and all now seems good.

How did you find the training course itself? Is it basically a "work your way through these materials" type of thing?

Thanks, Codegreen! It's old material dealing with MB repair at the component level, not an online course or anything like that. The author has a blog that's really interesting, although just a haphazard collection of repair anecdotes. The schematics were a treasure trove. For $65 or whatever it was, I thought it was good value. I was looking for something on digital signal processing to help troubleshooting a superio chip/southbridge problem and came across this. Finding component level repair info on the web is a challenge.
