I purchased the SeaSonic Platinum SS-660XP2 power supply for my custom gaming PC and am debating on whether or not to upgrade it to the 860 watt model. I want a power supply that I only have to replace when it dies. My only concern is whether or not it will be so much power that the system will be running at an inefficient level at idle.
Specs:
- CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5 GHz... want to OC to 4.5 GHz
- GPU: EVGA GTX 770 SuperClocked ATX Cooling 2 GB
- MOBO: Asus Maximus VI Hero
- RAM: G.SKILL Trident X DDR3 1866 MHz... want to OC to 2000 MHz or higher
- Storage: Samsung 840 Pro SSD 256 GB - SeaGate 3 TB 7200 RPM HDD
- CPU Cooler: Noctua DH-14
- ODD: Pioneer BDR-2209 BluRay Writer
- Case: Cooler Master HAF XB Evo
I'm not interested in water cooling or SLI at the moment. I would like to eventually add another HDD or 2, and lighting.
I'm not very happy that the logo on the rear of the unit has chipping paint
It's not much, but it no paint should ever come off on a $150+ PSU. It should be flawless.
