So I got one of my older gaming computers on Craigslist, and I got this guy that wants to buy it, we have been emailing back and forth for about a week. I can tell that he is not from Africa or eastern Europe, so +1 for that!

Anyways, he wants to send me a money order for the computer, and he wants to have some movers come pick it up from me. This all sounds really odd, but I haven't had anybody else interested in this item and I just want to get rid of it.

Does this sound like a scam? First time Ive posted anything on Craigslist, so I wouldn't know  He doesn't even want to come look at it before he buys it, and I'm selling it for 1000 pounds!

Thanks for reading!

Typical Craigslist Scam

He does not come to see, wants unknown party to deviler it and, wants to use money order?

Watch out!

Craigslist even warns about this on their site.

Usually the money order angle is this: they want to write it for more than the purchase, and get reimbursed in cash for the difference. Most likely he will ask if you would pay the movers in cash and he will add it to the MO. Then the MO proves to be fake, and he has the computer and the cash.

It is probably a scam.

Just tell them that they are free to come pick it up anytime... that you will demo it, so they can see that it works, and you will take cash only.

Craigslist = Cash Only + Personal Exchange

Yep, the more you use Craigslist you will notice very obvious trends in scam emails. ie same exact email from multiple addresses and suck. I for awhile was getting a lot of junk email from my CL add about Obama which had nothing to do with computer repair. Good luck with the sale though.
