This has been one of those days! Three laptops on the bench being buggers! I'm working on an MSI CR560 with W 7 Home Premium. The lady said she thought her computer needed a tuneup because it was slow. I did several virus scans but it comes up clean, though Malwarebytes freezes whether in safe or normal mode. All other scanners worked fine. The sfc scan hangs then freezes at 77 percent. I'm guessing there must be some corrupt windows files. Anyone else run into this problem or have fix for it. Thanks for any ideas in advance.

Please post an adequate amount of information about your problem . . .

Have you ruled out hardware issues?
What diagnostic tests have you run?
What diagnostic tools are you using?
What have you done to try and resolve this issue?
What have you ruled out other than viruses?

They are right pc142; a more detailed post would have been appreciated.

However if you are convinced it is a software issue and on the chance this may help please accept this "shot in the dark". You might consider Ultra Virus Killer (UVK). There is a write up on this site and it is easy to find. It has excellent system repair options. Once you are sure it is free of viruses you could try reregistering system DLL's fix and the reset registry and file permissions fix. These fixes gave me enough headway on another machine I fixed with similar SFC problems.

OK, I got the message, more info. I was really beat and frustrated last night and Googled out. In the future I'll go down the check list of what info to include. Now back to the issue. I decided to run Seagate's test utility even though my PC-Diagnostic USB utility ($195.00) gave the hard drive a pass. Seagate found two problems and then it hung and wouldn't finish. I cloned a replacement drive, ran sfc and the log showed corrupt DirectX files. I repaired those and all is well. In the end the problem was hardware. Thank you MattyUSA, kind & merciful tech, for the shot in the dark anyhow.

Kinda figured it was a hard drive issue. I highly suggest using gsmartcontrol over any other hard drive diagnostic tool. All-in-one diagnostic tools are usually not as accurate as tools that are specifically made for certain types of hardware. At least that has been my experience. We use PC Doctor for our motherboard diagnostic, but we wont use it for hard drive diagnostics due to gsmartcontrol being more accurate.

BTW, always check the hard drive first before trying to troubleshot software issues or system file errors.

How effective is that? Could you mention some scenarios where you found PC doctor helpful for motherboard diagnostics?

Thanks

To clarify, when I say motherboard, I also mean CPU and GPU as well. Most of the time if the motherboard is failing you will know it. But the areas in which PC Doctor has helped the most is detecting CPU and GPU errors.
