i have to replace the dc jack on a sony vaio nw series notebook. the part i ordered has 2 black ground wires, but the part inside it has one black ground wire. they have the same exact part number. they have a loop at the end that screws into the metal frame. can i screw both ground wires into the place where the one ground wire went to or do i leave it off? do i cap it? what do i do with that second wire?

Can you possible take a pic or find a similar pic? Some of these models have different DC Jacks.

either way, I would say it is same to say you could screw it to the main ground.

I don't get it, you said the part you got (I'm assuming the DC jack) has only one wire, but then you ask if you can screw in both wires. Does the DC jack have 1 or 2 wires and does the spot where it connects to have 1 or 2 terminals?

As long as they're both connected to each other in some way, you're fine.

You can probably get away with connecting just one, but I'd do both just in case.
