I'm working with a Dell Inspiron N7110 running Windows 7 that's having some issues when waking from hibernating state. After the allotted time, the computer goes into hibernate mode (indicated by blank screen, no HDD activity and the pulsating power button light). When I push the power button to wake it up, it goes into "Starting Windows" and after a few moments it goes into automatic "Start Up Repair". That runs for about 10 mins, restarts, and then boots into Windows fine.
Something appears to be happening during the transition from Sleep to Hibernation modes and I can't quite put my finger on it. It's almost as if it's shutting it's self down in a corrupted state. I can shut it down myself and restart it 50 times and it will restart flawlessly every time but when it Hibernates, havoc ensues on wake up.
System is free of viruses and malware. SFC /SCANNOW and CHKDSK show no errors. Memtest86+ shows no errors in memory and HybridSleep is turned off in the power settings. I also reset all BIOS settings to Default but didn't help. Also checked for AHCI power adjustments in the BIOS but none are available. Any ideas?
UPDATE: Also, when I manually click on the start button and select "Hibernate" under the shutdown options, it just shuts down completely. When I power it back on, it gives me the "Windows Didnt Shut Down Correctly" and begins the Startup Repair. It also does this if I select "Hibernate" from the power off button at the Windows Logon screen.
