My ThinkPad 14 Gen 1 laptop started making a clicking noise that is probably from the fan. It only happens when the fan is working fast and when I move the laptop. Is something broke on the fan and should I just replace it? I have never heard this before.

Video:

I would open her up and, at the very least, "blow out" the fan with canned air and vacuum (sans touching) the area.

This could be some tiny piece of plastic that's broken off from somewhere that only manages to make contact during tilting. I cannot count the number of bits of stray plastic from some tiny post, etc., having fractured that I've found floating around in laptop cases.

That or possibly the fan is not seated properly and is loose in the case.

With respect, have you done anything to answer your own question? This is a pretty pointless post, when you have the laptop in front of you and presumably the screwdrivers to take it apart.

You're right. How lazy of me lol. I will open it up next time I am at my girlfriend's as that's where I keep it - it's a cheaper used secondary laptop.
