I know different markets respond to different things. I did door hangers and got nothing but people wanting something for nothing, probably the worst venue. I did mailers and again same kinda thing a few decent repairs but wasn't super impressed with the return.
regarding local competitor scams, normally, when you have a new location, it takes a while to get reviews and such. A local competitor just had yelp page at another location switched to their new location but didn't actually move. He changed the address of his other location to give up 50+ reviews at his new location. Of course he advertises with Yelp so I'm sure if I report this I'll get ignored. Guy also pays his customers to leave reviews, has paid followers of his facebook accounts and has countless fake google reviews. I know it's a doggy dog world and it looks like I need to start doing the same crap. How'd you deal with this? I'm getting to the point of fighting fire with fire. We get countless good reviews in our follow up emails and I request yelp/google reviews etc but many people dont follow up.
Any success with groupon or other type services?
