Hi gang! Finally it's time to start promoting the big meetup in Chicago. For the past few weeks, many of us have been planning and things are in order to start promoting to our tech circles.

The Technibble & Podcasters meetup will be held at the Hilton Chicago at the CompTIA ChannelCon event. If you sign up to come, you get a free ticket to the full on ChannelCon event. This is an event worth coming for, we have a great line up of events as well ChannelCon also offers lot during the event, including keynotes speakers, community meetings, learning opportunities and of course...free breakfast/lunch and Vendor Fair snacks as well as a Tuesday night outing to Wrigley field with food included.

More about the meetup:
  • Bryce Whitty is coming up from Australia
  • Sunday at 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm The Podcasters are having a panel interview (Mike Smith, Carey Holzman, Jeff Halash, Matt Rodela, Matt Rainey, Door to Door Geek (Stephen McLaughlin) Chris Carruthers and myself
  • 6:00 to 7:00 After the panel interview, we will have a meetup with whoever all attends in the same room
  • We will have a sticker for you to put on your badge/lanyard so you can spot another member out quickly during the next 3 days
  • Wed night we will have another "meetup" planned (venue not selected yet)
  • Free transportation to and from airport
The actual ChannelCon event runs Monday Aug 3 to Aug 5, our meetup was planned early because there is so much going on, we didn't want those coming to miss out on the other events.

Reminder, if you decide to book your hotels and flights... be sure to be there by early Sunday afternoon, our event for the meetup starts at 5:00 pm and ends at 7:00 pm. There are events going on with others in our community later that night and on Monday, so there is more to come.

Hope to see many of you there!

The room hasn't been reserved yet. For those that are coming, you should have received emails from me and/or Chris. I had to cancel my trip due to life/personal issues that came up.

Yea, bummer... :(

Just a heads up as I was checking about parking at the Hilton where Comptia is going to be held and parking is $55 per day. WOW.

Curious were everyone else is staying?

I am still trying to decide on flying or driving my motorcycle but after the event am going to Pensacola Florida to see my daughter and new granddaughter.

That is normal for Chicago. I believe there is a garage a couple blocks away that is closer to $45. That's why I have in the past flown in or taken the train. Public transport is way cheaper than parking. See you there!

When I was going, I opted to fly. Round trip was $290 and they CompTIA will pick you up from the airport. So instead of driving 6 hours, gas and time and parking...flying was better.

I didn't get my money back on my flight that I already bought.

So booked my flights...not cheap but better than driving 12 hours to chicago and then 14 hours to see my daughter and 4 day old grand daughter in florida and then 12 hours back home. 2 hour flight to chicago and 2 hour flight from chicago to floida....saving 22 hours of driving but still have to drive 12 hours home with my family from florida.

Looking forward to meeting everyone at this event and hope I learn some stuff :)
