Hi everyone.

It it time for me to design a new business card. I kinda don't know where to start besides the basic contact info. I am looking for tips on what has worked for you all(eg. font, list of services...)

Here are what my past cards looked like:

When it came time for new cards we used silkcardspro.com
We paid them $99 to design the card and it was worth it. The cards they provided are amazing. We get compliments almost every time we hand our card to someone.
Start by requesting their free samples. You will get to look and touch some of their designs. It also comes with a coupon for your first order. We were surprised by how affordable they were.

Agreed. Why not just farm it out. I'm all about rolling my own stuff but in the end it makes sense to just pay someone to do some things. Especially when I'm not that well versed in something, like graphics design.

We keep saying to clients, let us have a look at the problem for you, we are the professionals.

Same thing applies here. Farm it out to those who know what they are doing.

Your time is better spent on working either on your business, or in the business. Rather than worrying over I wonder if this font would work here, or this graphic next to that wording...

I checked them out but it was looking expensive to have them design one.

I used 48 hour logo to do my logo they do business cards as well may have them give a card a go for me

I thought about sending a pic of the card when I posted. I'll attach them now. It's of course hard to see everyting in the picture but I'll describe what is in the pic I'm attaching.
Also I notice that for consumer customers like me their new website is www.4colorprint.com/
I still recommend requesting their free samples. You'll be amazed.
The cards we got are double layered with a 3-D design. You see this on the back of the card if you look closely. It is actually cutout around the edge and person with speech bubble.
I took the pictures on an angle so you could see the spot gloss UV we had put on the cards.
We provided them our logo & the text we wanted included on the card and the color we wanted. We then paid them $99 and they did the design. We worked with them to make some adjustments to their initial design but they really came up with the whole idea. We get asked all the time where we got them.
Really their prices are very reasonable.

I'm going to need to do cards soon, and I'm torn on what I want to do on the back. One option would be a simple dot grid (sometimes useful), the other would be a list of computer emergency tips with things like
  • DON'T PANIC this is what backups are for
  • Microsoft, Google, Amazon will never call you and would never ask for remote access
  • Your bank won't call either (unless your CC is used someplace odd)
  • UPS and Fedex numbers don't look like that, and they won't send you a document
  • Unless you know who and why, any received document is probably malicious
  • If you're not sure about an error message, take a picture of it before you do anything else.
  • Messages with typos, spelling or grammar errors are probably scams.
  • (etc)

How much did those fancy cards run you?

I bought these in Jan of 2017
I paid the $99 design fee.
1000 cards cost $335
Shipping $15

Total cost for 1000 cards & design was $449

Was talking to a marketing guy the other day he suggested leaving a comments area on the back of the card.

He said the minute you write something like suggest i5 with 8gb Ram cost ~ 500$ the card becomes far more valuable to the customer and they are less likely to throw it away.
