Tool / software / service to monitor ISP connection

I need a recommendation for a tool / software or service to monitor a clients internet connection.

We use GFI RMM and obviously that will alert us when a server goes down, but I want something that monitors the actual internet connection and hopefully gives us even faster notification that something is wrong.

If you turn on external ping on your router you can monitor that from GFI? Or are you looking to monitor connection/sync speed?

You can use something like Cacti to monitor the Router/Connection. Can setup graphs to monitor the SNR, sync speeds etc...

This requires SNMP right? sorry im ignorant when it comes to server stuff.

Yup. The device would need to support SNMP. Probably not the best solution as you don't really want to be sending SNMP data over the Internet.
