Windows Vista info for Palm devices

Whether you sync with Palm Desktop or Microsoft Outlook, a Windows Vista compatible solution is available for your Palm device. Update your sync software to access the latest enhancements and add compatibility for Vista.
Palm OS:
for Centro; Treo 755p, 700p, 680; Zire; Tungsten
Palm Desktop and HotSync Manager

Palm Desktop by ACCESS 6.2 is compatible with Windows Vista.

This software includes a Windows Vista compatible Install Tool, which allows you to sync .prc and .pdb files (Palm OS applications and databases) to your device.

* Download Palm Desktop by ACCESS 6.2

Outlook 2007 update for Windows Vista

If you use Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, this update lets you perform HotSync operations with Outlook's Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Notes.

* Install the Outlook 2007 Update
Not required for Centro.

Chapura PocketMirror note: Some Palm devices use this third-party software to sync with Outlook, instead of Palm Outlook Conduits. If you use PocketMirror, you may need to install an update: info.
Windows Mobile:
for Treo Pro, 800w, 750, 700w/wx
Windows Mobile Device Center (previously ActiveSync)

Windows Vista introduces a new method for device synchronization called Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC). This method replaces ActiveSync.

With this new method you do not need to install the ActiveSync software on your Getting Started Disc (if provided). Microsoft ActiveSync is not compatible with Windows Vista because WMDC replaces it. However you can still run the Getting Started Disc in order to install the User Guide or any included Bonus Applications.

For detailed instructions on installing and using WMDC, please see the following links:

FAQs
Palm OS or Windows Mobile: what's the difference?

The operating system on your device determines the type of sync software you need. There are Windows Vista options for both types of device.

Palm Desktop is for Palm OS devices (Centro; Treo 755p, 680, 700p, etc.).

Windows Mobile Device Center (previously ActiveSync) is for Windows Mobile devices (Treo Pro, Treo 800w, 750 and 700w/wx).

For details on compatibility, see left.
64-bit edition support

Palm does not support Palm Desktop or HotSync synchronization with Microsoft Windows 64-bit editions. Palm Desktop runs on 32-bit and 16-bit editions of Windows only. Synchronization via Exchange ActiveSync is unaffected by this limitation.

This limitation does not affect Palm Windows Mobile devices which use ActiveSync and Windows Mobile Device Center for synchronization.
