I hate touchpads and only use them when I must. I've been trying to disable the touchpad on my old Asus F75A with no luck. I've played around with every driver Asus offers but they all have "Device disable" greyed out. Keyboard shortcut (f9) also has no effect. Is there a registry hack to turn this thing off. I don't want to resort to extremes like the last touchpad I couldn't turn off (below) heheee!

Most touchpad drivers have the option to disable the internal touchpad if an external pointing device is connected. Under Windows 11 this even shows up in the native Windows 11 settings for touchpad.

If you're connecting a mouse, trackball, etc, whether wired or wireless, there's almost certainly a way to disable the touchpad when that is connected.

If nothing else, it's a simple matter to cut a piece of cardboard (e.g. a file folder) to slightly larger than the touchpad itself and cover it. I have my blind clients do this all the time if they plan on using a laptop's built in keyboard and have them tape the cover on "book style" so that the tape tab on the right can be lifted for when a sighted assistant needs access to the touchpad.

Why not just uninstall the driver altogether?
I did and it just reinstalls itself on the next boot. As I mentioned the "Disable Device" in the drivers section is greyed out and not an option.

I'll check what @tf76 posted above and if that doesn't work then I'll go with unplugging the thing. I'm on a beach in Texas so I don't have my regular tools to work with.
