Hi,

One of my users has managed to turn this on at the top of his inbox in outlook and I cannot figure how to disable it and restore the normal view without all these columns or this header. I don't know what it is called so that is not helping me search for the correct name:

The preferred view doesn't have that column header and doesn't have all that detail.

I am not at all clear what you mean by "this header" but if you mean the actual column headers, they're usually on by default and you can select which ones, and in which order, appear (with certain exceptions, like you can never hide Subject).

Hit Alt + V, AC, and you will get the Show Columns dialog:

Anything you don't want shown can be selected in the Show these columns in this order list and the Remove button activated to shove it back over to the Available Columns list.

I have no idea at all how you ended up hiding the column heading row, and have been unable to figure that out quickly. But you can certainly clean up the number of columns shown and the order in which they're shown with ease.

Found the fix:

On my system what I am asking for is Compact view:

But on my clients PC that wasn't working until I did this.

Exit outlook, hit windows key R in run box type:

outlook.exe /cleanviews

Outlook restarted and the views are reset to default and now compact view works.
