Ubiquiti finally shipped the preorder we had on their newest WiFi system Amplifi. We did a test set up of the system and it worked great! We will be setting it up at client location tomorrow so can give a little more feedback then.

The setup for this device is so easy anyone can do it. Download the Amplifi App and it takes care of the rest. Simply plug in your device, turn on your wifi/bluetooth, open the app and the setup begins. It will locate your device. Select the device, it will ask for SSID/Password. Once you create the Network it handles the rest and you are in business.

Once connected in the app it will display the health of your device and all relevant information. You can then plug in the mesh adapters and after about a minute they will connect automatically. The app allows you to see any information about the device itself along with all connected devices, network speeds, and all options a standard home WiFi router would have. DHCP settings, Static Leases, Port Forwarding, Guest Networks. I know I am missing a few things but I already factory reset the device. All settings are controlled through the app. No computer, no browser, no direct connection. The app can also control LED and LCD settings for the Mesh Adapters and the Main Hub as well. I think the hardest part of the setup was finding the app on the Play Store. I was just searching Amplifi and it was saturated with Amplifier programs. Just searched for Amplifi Wifi and it came right up.

First impressions are good. The setup is easy. The range is pretty good. I walked throughout our entire office building and stayed connected 100%. I could never tell if I was on an extender or the actual hub, but running multiple speed tests the network speed almost always reached our wire speeds in office. I went to all corners of the building and even outside and the speeds never fluctuated.

Setting this up tomorrow in a multi level house. Will post back with updates on how it performs for the client.

Set this up last Friday and the setup onsite went just as easy as in office. Plug it in, download the app, set it up, good to go. I also set this up with the app on my phone, then installed the app on the client's phone and you can login into the device with the same wifi password. There is an option to change in the setup phase, but default it checked to make management password the same as wifi. It installed on their phone just as easy and displayed all the options. The iPhone app and Android app are partially different but it seemed to contain all the same features. This house was a little bigger than our office we I ended up moving one of the mesh extenders to the second floor. Both extenders were probably...20+ feet away and maintained a 70% mesh level which the app indicated as fine. Speeds on the main floor were reaching 80Mb/s while upstairs they were dropping to around 40-50Mb/s. While that aspect is kind of poor, its getting extremely better upstairs performance than the old system they were using. Overall still an easy setup, the coverage could be better, but no extensive testing was done with other equipment besides what they had. Customer is happy with the setup giving them more than they had before.
