UK Supermarket Cards

In several of the big UK supermarkets there is a podium near the checkouts containing business cards for customers to pick up. They are organised through a central company rather than on a per store basis.

I was wondering if anyone has used these and if you had any success?

Thanks

I tried this extensively a while ago, when they were just cards that could be added by anyone - it didn't work for us, and I doubt it'd work now. I just don't think people take any notice of one more advertisement in a place which has a million logos and adverts, I think maybe people tune it out.

I have to agree with vladd on this when you noticed the card display how many other people was looking at it?.

Postcards

I remember reading an extensive post on moneysavingexpert about these, and most people said they were an expensive waste of time.

Most newsagents charge around 20p per week, to put up a post card. I used publisher to design a A6 flyer and I do very well from them. In one village newsagents, I got 3 jobs within 1 days of putting the flyer in.

Thanks

I was wondering the same thing. The company which Tesco's are using approached me last week regarding this. They are putting in new post boxes in conjunction with the Royal mail. These boxes will display adverts for local businesses. Only one from each sector will be allowed. So if I was to go for it I would be the only PC repair company allowed to be advertised within that store.

The cost for this was £260 for the year.

Has anyone had any experience with this kind of advertsing? Has it worked?

I tried a slot on the board of my local Wilkinsons. There's only 5 slots on there, and they also put an A5 holder on which you can use for special offers, etc..

The whole thing is a complete waste of space, time and money though :(

Maybe my ad was too slick/corporate for the audience

Avoid Tescos advertising like the plague.

A company called Windsor Associates manage the Tesco advertising and their customer service is absolute garbage. I was hoodwinked into advertising when I first setup and it wasthe biggest waste of money I have ever spent. I had the grand total of 0 calls in 2 years of advertising. They even left my cards out on several occasions and it took them a few weeks to rectify this. Biggest mistake I have ever made!
