Ok, first off I made the cardinal error of spilling liquid near the back of the tower from above, maybe a quarter of a teaspoon of water. it was on at time really don't water got onto the PC. I immediately checked and found no wetness outside or inside the tower.
Next time i tried to restart it there was no response when hitting the power button, being on the other side of the pc, I doubted the button itself was the issue unless it was a coincidence.
When I fired up the BIST i get a green light and the fans spin completely normally. I checked all the connectors, tried resetting the bios, re-seating the memory cards with no effect. When the BIST is pressed the power button lit amber, only until I let off of it though.
Here's the weird part, i was randomly hitting the BIST button and the power switch repeatedly and it turned on several hours after it first refused to power up. I used this method for a few weeks. It would take several attempts but eventually Id push down and the power button would be white suddenly rather than amber and power on normally.
This last time I left the PC on for over a month and it ran fine the entire time, no issues at all. O checked out the power button and it doesn't seem broken in any way. I've scoured the back side as well.. no signs of water damage outside or inside.
There's no way I can hire someone to repair it until next semester and this thing is my entertainment, study aid... everything. I've tried several forums now and searched the internet like you wouldn't believe. the one uncommon factor is how it runs perfectly if I get it started. Any help would be appreciated
