Untangle iOS OpenVPN

I have a Untangle with OpenVPN up and running. I am trying to get an iPad to connect. I have installed the OpenVPN app from the appstore.
I have the .ovpn, .key & .crt files accessible both in Google Drive and copied to the ipad in the files app. I have tried from both locations to add the .ovpn profile inside the OpenVPN app. When I do I get the same message from both locations.
"Failed to Import Profile"
It then says Missing/bad files:
and lists the .crt & .key files which are both in the same location in Google Drive and also already downloaded into the files folder in the iOS Files app.
I really don't want to use iTunes if I don't have to.
Can anyone help me. I am to meet the client in a couple of hours to get this setup.

Eh forget it... if the install is old blow away the OpenVPN module, and reinstall it.

If the install is new, get into the advanced tab of OpenVPN settings, exclude the compress directives in BOTH the client and server sections, and redeploy the client.

Instructions for iOS are here:https://wiki.untangle.com/index.php/OpenVPN#iOS_based_iPhones_and_iPads

Untangle internally uses a ton of Macs, so typically this all just works. BUT, if you don't know to remove those compress directives, there are a few ugly issues that can bite you on both Android and iOS.

It is a new install and I do have both of the compress sections disabled. I have it deployed successfully on several PC's
I did read the directions you mentioned before I posted. Where I am not happy is that it looks like I have to connect the iPad to a computer and transfer the files via iTunes from the computer to the iPad.
Is there not a way to do it without connecting the iPad to a computer and transferring the files this way such as Google Drive?

I've never configured OpenVPN on iOS, but given my experience with Android I wouldn't expect the process to be much different. I don't think it matters how the files get there, so long as they do.

But at least the compress directives are gone, so you don't have that settings to flub with.

I've not used this setup. But whenever I've needs something for a setup in iOS I've been able to just email it and then open the file in the email. iOS has always handled moving/installing it to the correct place.
