Test an HTTPS Secured Web Server
This free SSL / TLS web server testing tool conducts a thorough analysis of your SSL / TLS web server configuration and performance. Including protocols, encryption ciphers, known security weaknesses, session caching and much more.

Test an SMTP Mail Server
This free online tool allows you to test an SMTP mail server directly, sending a test email so you can be sure that it is functioning correctly. Perfect for setting up new mail exchangers (MX's) for your domain.

Test a POP3 Mail Server
This free online tool allows you to quickly test a POP3 mail server, so you can be sure that it is functioning correctly. Perfect when you're setting up a new mail server for your domain, plus it supports SSL.

Test an FTP Server
This free online tool allows you to remotely test an FTP server. Perfect for when your client is complaining that they can't connect to your FTP server!

Remote Ping

Also, you probably know about this one but here goes anyway:

Nice tools but... I would never enter a username and password on a remote website. This form data can easily be saved to a database. Call me paranoid.

The other tools will be useful.:)

Edit: we use this site a lot. http://tools.appriver.com/

I totally agree! However you could use a temporary user and password (or just change the password).

Thanks for the AppRiver tools link btw.

For checking email I use an out of office + FWD on a Test.Email account on my server.
Send from client - wait - Get reply = okay.
Also FWDs to account on my phone - so can determine if a fault is TX or RX
simples:)

Thanks for the above links :D

EDIT: - used to use telnet to check emails - now email servers htey all got security , don't know how to do it from DOS :(
