USG-3P WAN No Internet

I replaced our fully working USG-3P with a USG-4P last night and the transition was amazingly painless. In the process I needed to "forget" the old USG-3P and adopt the new 4P.

Now, with the 3P removed from the existing controller (forgotten) and completely factory reset, I am trying to set it up with a new Cloud Key (gen 1, v3).

I cannot get the 3P to see the internet (good known internet connection, with DHCP from the ISP).

I can adopt the 3P into the cloudkey, but of course the cloudkey is not online as it is connected behind the USG-3P.

internet >> USG-3P WAN >> USG-3P LAN1 >> dumb switch >> cloud key (with PoE) + laptop to configure and bash my head against

Any thoughts on how to proceed? All firmware is fully up-to-date but not running beta (USG-3P is running 4.4.36.5146617).

Thank you for any advice!

Pinhole reset. MULTIPLE times now.

Unit responds to ssh commands. I have not tried to program manually from within ssh.

If I connect the 3P's WAN port to what is now the 4P's network, it does not pull an IP address (via DHCP) on the WAN side either. This was attempted for troubleshooting purposes.

Is the WAN Eth0? That field appears to be blank (as opposed to a 169 address or something). Can you get to the web interface of the device? If so, I would try forcing a static IP on the WAN interface to see if that worked.

On the 101st re-set, I was able to force a WAN IP. Then adopt it and the values have held.

I wish I had a great solution to this for others that follow, but I simply eventually got it to work.
