Video card options

I have a construction company as a client. They use a software called Cabinet Vision. They use it to desgin rooms/cabinets and whole houses. It is a very expensive and even more power hungry when 3d rendering. There PC was top of the line in 2011.

Specs

i7 3.5 (forget which model)
16 GB of ddr3 1333MHz(pretty sure of speed)
1 160 GB SSD
2 1 TB in a raid 1 config
2 GB ddr5 NVIDIA (forget which on but it is more geared gaming)

The computer is still running great. The program has gone through 3 major updates. The first 2 did not effect performance much. This last one which was about a month ago really effected the time of 3d rendering. Before it was almost instantaneous now it has about a minute. The client wants to fix this.

My first thought upgrade the video card. after doing a bit of research i think the NVIDIA Quadro K4000 would be a great choice.

My question is :

Is the NVIDIA Quadro K4000 a good pick or is there a better one for a similar price?

I always tell EU's that the recommended is actually the minimum. So the one you are thinking about should help. What OS are they running?

They are running windows 7 x64 home premium i think maybe pro. I was looking at the 3GB version of the video card.

If it's any home thing I'd up them up to pro.

We always recommend xeon processors and win 7 pro to our clients who use cad type software

If the current processor is only 4 core, you may see substantial increase in rendering if you went 8 core. This may be cheaper than high end workstation graphics. Of course this means making sure the mobo is compatible, but might be an option.

Pro supports more memory and has enhanced network support among other things

I am pretty sure we have landed on the Quadro M4000. 8GB of memory. this should last him a few years!
