Vista Activation Issue

Hello all... I've come across something that I've not seen before. I just reloaded a customers Gateway laptop, due to a massive virus infection that trashed the system files.

I reloaded from the Recovery Partition, and now the d*#n thing won't activate!

Has anybody seen an issue like this before?

The customer needs the laptop back tomorrow for a trip, so I may have to give it to her un-activated, but she'll be bringing it back next week, along with her other two machines for me to install a Kapersky 3-pack, so I've got a few days to figure this out.

Hi. I had this problem a while ago so I used the activate by phone method. Failing this try jellybean or something to see the Product key. It may be better to change to the sticker on COA sticker on the machine if it's not the one jellybean finds. Hope this helps

Found out this is a known issue that is fixed by KB931573. Customer had to go out of town before I found the answer, so I told her to bring it back when she returns... will update then.

Good find Crabig Only one other thread mentioning KB931573 btw. Could have been loads of other things though.
Vista remains to be a PITA doesn't it?
