Weird infection in Chrome for a single Windows User

First, I know that what's occurring is definitely NOT from McAfee, because McAfee does not even exist on the machine.

There is one of the classic pop-up FUD dialogs that says you have an infection blah, blah, blah. I thought I had managed to remove it, but it appears not.

I know that this sort of thing should be able to be dispatched with easily, but I somehow missed something. Pointers as to where to look, and how to "disinfect" for this single pesky thing would be appreciated. The client already knows it's not real and is not panicking, but I want to be rid of it and thought I was.

Is it from Chrome or is it from Edge? I have had 2 computers in the last two days where the popups were from Edge not Chrome, first time ever iI have had them from Edge. Simple reset of the browsers fixed it in both cases

Please reference the below Malwarebytes Lab's article on Browser Push Notifications. See if that resolves the issue.
Look for the section "How do I disable them?"
Browser push notifications: a feature asking to be abused

Google Chrome:
Turn notifications on or off - Google Chrome

Mozilla Firefox:
Web Push notifications in Firefox

Microsoft Edge:
Manage website notifications in Microsoft Edge

Apple Safari:
Customize website notifications in Safari on Mac

Opera Browser:
Go to "Manage desktop notifications"
Web preferences

Brave Browser:
How do I turn off notifications in brave browser

I had this the other day, is it a popup in the users RHS Bottom Corner? It pops up with Norton, McAfee etc with a constant bombardment of system related issues with a bing sound.

Yup. Shows up just like a typical Windows notification (what was once called a Toast). And it is relentless.

I strongly suspect this is a rogue push notification. I've sent the client both the Malwarebytes article by way of explaining what is happening, and the Chrome help page about turning off notifications. My sincerest thanks to @Porthos, as I knew about this somewhere in the mental lint, but it simply was not popping out nor would have without a nice, firm nudge.

You could disable it within msconfig - will come under "Program". It worked for me, then I deleted all %APPDATA%/Local/Temp folders and used Process Killer as well and blacklist it.

Forgot to add as @Markverhyden stated I cleared everything from browsers as well.
