My only concern is that the t-rex is slightly too complex. But then again, i love how it came out and im afraid if i strip it down too much I will lose some of the "eye catchiness" i was going for. The fonts are as intended, the words t-rex are emphacized as i wanted, etc etc.

To see it in context ; check out the website.

What do you all think?

Surely you are joking? pay some money and have it done properly.

Im not the one doing it lol. I do have control over the process tho.

Edit: these are the corrections that i was going for.. (to tell the designer)

#1 The T-Rex is too complex. make simpler (well done though)

#2 While making him simpler, make him look a little more metallic looking

#3 I like the screws; they can stay

#4 Teeth can stay

#5 Angle can stay

#6 The ech don't need to touch other. Make them seperate

What conclusion have you come to lol, neither of you really came to one at all? I'm working with a designer so i AM paying someone. The logo is in its design phase; what exactly do you dislike about it if you dont mind sharing? I listed what i thought would improve it and the entire point of this post is to see what others think.

We see it. It doesn't portray a professional image. Go to 48hourslogo.com and for a $100 get a number of great logos to chose from. The designer you are working with may be talented but it isn't reflected in the logo shown.

I think you can probably see from the tenor of the responses you have seen here that the consensus is the concept does not work.

I think the reason here is twofold:

1. The design is overly complex, and one of the issues is that the name is actually very difficult to read and discern. You dont want your logo to require deciphering. It should be immediately apparent what it says.

2. I think the t-rex image here is difficult because there is no link between a dinosaur and the concept of computer repair. It looks like its all about the dinosaur, which I think is what is raising eyebrows. Perhaps the better path would be some degree of subtlety? In other words, maybe your logo concept would work better with the immediate impression being the name, and then if the reader looks a bit more closely, a reference to t-rex. (An "oh yeah... thats what that is" moment). Its in there, but it doesnt overpower the whole image.

At the moment it looks like its all about the dinosaur, and I think thats why its being received negatively.

Hope this helps. Just my 5c

I agree entirely. I want to leave the t-rex concept though, want to try something unique and fresh. I did ask the designer to make the t-rex simpler. I do agree that the text isnt instantly identifiable, he's working on that as well.

I have concluded over time the reason Best Buy is named as it is instead of TeknoDealz or Electro4Less is because whoever started Best Buy understood marketing and business. I have learned from personal experience that sometimes it is just best to stick with tried and true methods. They are tried and true because they work. I am a person who loves to come up with fresh, creative ideas but I would caution you to be extremely careful in doing this with your brand. My last computer company"s name was 2 U Computer Crew... because We Come to You! As clever as I thought it was at the time, I realized the majority of people didn't get it and it just made me that much more difficult to find. I don't think that a dinosaur is going to evoke any underlying confidence with people that you are on the cutting edge of technology. This is what will continue to represent you as you grow. Best of luck whatever you decide.

I agree with the others..

I do have an idea for you though..

I think it would be cool if the T-Rex was holding a desktop or laptop in his mouth.. and somehow convey this with a full picture of the T-Rex body from a side profile.. dragging wires and mouse/keyboard/speakers.

Made something up real quick.. images stolen shamelessly from google..

If you paid someone for that logo, stop paying them. There is a huge difference between a talented graphics designer and a talented logo designer.

One creates images, the other creates your company image.
