10PCS Laptop Screen Double-sided Adhesive Mobile Phone Easy-to-pull Display Tape Strip High-viscosity Bezel Sticker Glue Tape

---

Got one of the screens that has a glue strip on either side with a little nub at the bottom for pulling out the strip just like the ones used to glue phones parts like an iPhone battery.

Am I able to buy this exact glue strip?

Otherwise, I have 2mm double-sided adhesive strips that I could use. I'd need to use 3-4 of them because they're so narrow. It probably wouldn't be as strong as the original tape.

What to do?

I think it could be too permanent.

As do I. There's no doubt that it will work, but God forbid you ever need to remove that screen "with grace" for any other reason.

I've used this stuff for its intended purpose and to say it develops a death grip after a not too long a time to set well is an understatement.

I want something that's designed to allow removal should that need arise. The tolerances for screens (as but one thing) don't allow you to get under them and slice the foam of the tape in half without the very high probability of screwing up something else.

But, if true permanence is your goal, then this stuff is unlikely to be beaten!

Do you think this would work fine?

It's in-stock now at Walmart vs waiting till Tuesday to get the other stuff.

Edit: I think it could be too permanent.
That is VHB tape. But the problem is less in how you attach it and more in how it can be removed without destroying the item later. Unlike other adhesives VHB doesn't respond well to heat for decreasing adhesion. But it will respond well to something ilke WD40.

VHB tape is semi-permanent, you won't remove a screen without breaking it after using VHB. Better to just use TESA tape or red tape as it's more forgiving when trying to remove screens. The white tape battery tape works but it's much thinner than OEM stretch tape, still a better alternative than VHB, TESA and Red tape. About a year ago we ordered 100 pcs of OEM (or close) from Ali. It's the proper thickness so it adds some screen cushioning, it's stretch release without leaving any tape residue. I posted a link in here last year for a source. We really like that tape for screens.

I follow a trick from some guy on YouTube where he carefully stretch-removed the original tape without mangling it then re-used it.
Yes, it works.
Just have to be very careful not to twist or break it with steady and progressive pull.

That's a pipe-dream on many, though. Sure, there are exceptions.. but that hasn't been my experience at all.

Let us know how it goes.
Way too short. Had to return.

Buying these. Wonder if the 0.6mm option is the best for laptop screen replacements.
