Windows Repair Toolbox

Hi Alex, downloaded and setup new WRT.
Brilliant, dumped all my tools in the "Added Custom Tools" folder hit refresh and and they all appeared! So easy!
Just one question though?
How can I rename some of the entries in the list? Some have descriptive names but others have not because it has picked up the files with their default names?
Example, I have several entries called "setup.exe" and I must click each one to see what it is.

Excellent work! :):D

Well duh! I just rename the files......how embarrassing!
Not embarrassing, just a legit question! One limitation of the feature is that duplicated files will not appear in the Listbox. For instance if you have 2 files named Ccleaner.exe, only the first one will be added to the Listbox. But if you rename one of them they will both be shown.

Hi guys, I've released version 1.9.0.9.

I've just corrected a misspelled word in the instructions text of the "Custom Tools" tab.

Thank you.

Hi all, I’ve released version 1.9.1.0 of WRT.

This version fixes an unhandled exception that would crash the program during its startup if the CPU wasn’t supported by the temperature monitor. A few other unhandled exceptions that might also occur during the startup were also handled. This problem affected versions 1.9.0.7 and higher.

Thanks to the user Scott T. for reporting the issue.

Hi all,

I've updated WRT to version 1.9.1.1:

- Fixed one circumstance that would cause Windows Repair Toolbox to hang in the initial loading screen for several minutes, in some machines. Thanks to the user Timster for reporting this issue and help troubleshooting, and to @Barcelona for also help troubleshooting.

- Fixed: if the temperature monitor was disabled from the settings tab while the red indicator was active, that "red dot" would continue visible in the panel instead of disappearing.

- Added: When the temperature monitor is disabled from the settings or is unavailable, now the word "Unavailable" will appear in front of "TEMP:"

- Some other internal improvements.

As always, your feedback is welcome.
Thank you!

Hey @AlexCa.
Would it be possible to be able to change to a default browser for opening links/sites from WRT?
Maybe a setting to tell WRT to use a different one from the default in Windows?
Thanks.

Hey Greg, thank you for the suggestion. I thought about it, and it seems that that would only be usefull for opening: Ninite website, the Microsoft Easy Fix page, the Adobe Reader installer, and the alternatives web based webcam and microphone tests (in the "Final Tests" tab).

Because the remaining links in WRT are meant to be opened with the default browser (the one that's in use by the computer owner). The Java and Flash Player (in the groupbox "Update") because the grabbed installers sometimes differ according to the combination OS/browser used; and the links in the "Final Tests" tab, because those are meant to test the browser that the computer owner will effectively use when he takes the computer home.

So adding a third-party portable browser (that would make WRT package/zip much bigger), or adding the ability to detect/select between other browsers present in the system, or creating some kind of mini-browser for that effect, does not seem something I will consider for now - at least as a priority (unless I'm missing something, of coarse).

Hi all,

I've just released version 1.9.1.2 of WRT:

- Changed the memory monitor: it used to show the "% Committed Bytes in Use" and now it shows the "% Used".

- Corrected the label from the CPU monitor from "% use" to "% time".

- Fixed the spacing between the left side groupboxes in the "Settings" tab.

- Added informative tooltips also to the buttons in "Windows" groupbox.

- Updated Notepad++ from version 7.5 to version 7.5.1.

- Added the recommendation to disable the real-time AV to the messagebox that is shown when the "Run Unattended" button is clicked.

Thank you!

An user made me this question: "...how can I backup or export all downloaded programs to every new iteration of your program?"

The answer is to copy the following folders:
...\Windows_Repair_Toolbox\Downloads
...\Windows_Repair_Toolbox\custom

The second one is for the case that you've added customizations to the program (icon, title bar text, custom.xml file).

I use the portable version.
It's a very simple thing to download the new version and just unpack it to the same directory overwriting the old version with the new.
Nothing else changes apart from the relevant files for WRT.

@AlexCa PatchMyPC is not downloading. I get the error that multiple attempts to download have failed. It gets to 99% and hangs until the message shows up.

Please advise

Hi @cyde_ePhex, the download is working fine here (I've also tested in different Windows versions, using VM's, just to make sure), so I think that it's not from the software.

However I had a few problems with that download link in the past, but they got fixed after I've changed the download link in the definitions from "https" to "http". Check out in the "About" tab of WRT if you're using the latest definitions (1.2.1.8) version.
