Hi All,

Was updating a client's Windows server 2008 (standard) Machine last night. It's a standalone computer, no DC. It installed about 30 updates, I rebooted it and now it refuses to install more. When I search for updates I get an error code "80244008". I have tried restarting the BITS service, Windows Update Service, and finally the whole machine, only to receive the same error.

Looking online the issue appears to be relates to WSUS or a proxy, but we're using neither. Any ideas or suggestions?

Your thread title/subject says "SBS 2008"...but in your thread you mention 2008 standard and it's stand alone...not a DC...so makes me think it can't be SBS (Small Business Server)....which is a lot more than Windows Standard, and has to be a DC.

Assuming you mean Windows Server 2008 Standard...was some of the recent updates anything .NET 4 related? If so..yank them and bounce her and see if it's back to normal. Or actually....check into uninstalling any updates you did...reboot, see how it goes. Carefully check into updates you may think of uninstalling and check into ramifications of that..as some updates, if uninstalled, can leave an ugly mess to clean up.
