Windows update problems, win 32 problems, etc.

So i've been having some problems lately.

I decided to factory reset my computer back when i got a new drive like a week ago, after that i installed some things, did normal factory reset things. though some time later i restarted and started to notice some problems, such as steam wouldn't open on launch, Nvidia driver stopped respond because i didn't have a certain file in the win32 folder, Origin wouldn't load because of that file missing, Certain games wouldn't launch, etc. I did some research and turns out it was related to Open GL, and realized i forgot to do windows updates, so i tried to do them and it was the infinite/never ending "search for updates". So today i factory reset everything again, and planned to do windows update FIRST thing, but apparently it's still having problems? even after using my win disk (8.1). As even now it has the infinite "searching for updates" While it will show it is looking, and has 30% cpu usage, with 0% network and 0% SSD usage.

(I don't have any screenshots of the past problems, from the win32/etc)

(I don't know if i will get the same problems with Open GL, win32, etc, as i havn't installed anything except chrome yet.)

I've tried EVERYTHING that googling my problem shows, such as:
-Turning off firewall
-Installing KB3065988 Update
-Using the windows update troubleshooter.
-Cleaning up junk files
-etc

The windows update troubleshooter always shows 2 or 3 problems showing "Fixed" though if i redo the troubleshooter right after that, it shows them again. [The screenshot is of the problems]

I'm thinking the only way i can fix this, is maybe a new Windows disk? (and a new drive? as i've probably factory reset 3-5 times in the past week)

For now, Though If upgrading fix's my prob, i guess i'll be going to 10~
I recommend a CLEAN install of 10. Back up your data using @fab's if you have it yet and nuke it and reinstal your programs and restore your data.
If you are still planning to have your own computer business you should be able to do the above in your sleep.;)

There's no point troubleshooting Win 8.1 any more. Very few people prefer it over 10, and I doubt non-security patches will be released for it. There could even be driver issues that device manufacturer's aren't fixing in a hurry. Win 8/8.1 is pretty much dead, even though MS still officially supports it.

It's a free upgrade to Win 10. The latest ISO is freely available to download. A clean install will activate automatically on prebuilt computers with 8 or 8.1 licenses embedded, or it will activate with a Win 7/8/8.1 product key from the COA.

Every computer with Win 8/8.1 that comes in for repair gets upgraded to 10 (or the customer is strongly advised to give us permission). It's possible that an in-place upgrade to 10 might fix your issues but usually a clean install is recommended, on a new SSD if it doesn't have one already.

+1000. 8 is dead except security patches until 2023.

Windows 7 got an RDP v10 client, WIndows 10 shipped with one... Windows 8 did not...

MS has basically abandoned the platform, just get a Win10 disk and run setup to upgrade the thing, you'll be glad you did. MS flat tells people now to upgrade given certain tickets and complaints about the short support.
