I have one Dell OEM XP Home CD that I've been using for Dell and non Dell computers if I ever need to rebuild. Normally during the install it doesn't ask for the key, then when I tried to activate, it tells me I have issues and usually the GUI offers a way to re-enter the license key. I would then use the sticker on the PC to re-register, but usually it would still fail and I have to call Microsoft to activate.
I just wanted to know if it's okay to use one OEM disc for different vendors? Usually the customers don't have the Windows CD when I need rebuild the computer, although the sticker is on the PC. I'm not installing illegal software but wanted to know if I'm doing it right.
