NetSetMan – Easily Modify Network Settings

Shares

NetSetMan is a small freeware tool designed to allow you to change your computers network settings quickly and easily. Lets say you take a laptop onsite for network related jobs but at home you have a special setup. Then you go onsite and have to keep changing it to “Obtain Automatically” so it works on the clients network. Once you return home, you have to set it all back to the way it was.

This is where NetSetMan comes in, it allows you to make network setting profiles which you can activate based on your location. For example, you may have one setup for your home, one for work and one for when you are on a public wireless access point.

I first saw this when it was talked about on the Mike Tech Show so thank you to Mike (which is also a great show and is well worth the listen. Check it out here).

I’ll have to check this out. We all know what a pain the constant changing can be, especially if you’re working on diagnosing a network.

Perfect! This is really gonna help out.

We’re consantly switching (once or twice a day) our network settings. I can’t wait to try this!

For some reason after using this tool I had two default gateway entries. It took me a half hour to resolve the issue. Use at your own risk!

Great little application works well with Vista.
I change my network settings for different systems a few times per day so this is ideal.

This is a good tool. Being a Home Automation Company with an IT department, I have found this utility to be quick useful for quickly jumping active connection to configuring a router to configuring a wap and back to a wireless connection and then to ethernet lan connection. The freeware version is EXACTLY what I need to minimize billiable time to my clients when I am on site… already set up in profiles, and with ACTIVATE, I am back and running for what I need… I have not had any problems, but then again, I am not changing gateways very much….

anyone know if something like this exists for Ubuntu?
