This computer advertising trap is a trap that can effect both beginner and veteran business owners. It is very sneaky because you don’t know its happened until you are right in the middle of it.
Lets say that you have recently done a lot of advertising. You got some brochures made and handed out, did some letterbox drops and even managed to get a mention in the local paper. This advertising run was alot of work but it has brought in alot of business that is keeping you pretty busy. In fact, so busy that you almost have to turn away some work.
Since you are getting more clients than you can handle right now you don’t really need to do another advertising run, right? Wrong!
You need to keep advertising even when you are busy because most advertising wont have instant results. You may find that people hold on to you ads that you had sent out months ago.
A few years ago I did a letter box drop, got no calls from it and considered it a failure. Then one day, about a year later a got a handful of calls from that letterbox drop and still have those clients today.
You may be reaping the rewards of past advertising today, but you also need to put out advertising today to reap the same rewards for next week. Otherwise, you may find that yourself strugging for work.
