I got this power supply in to put in an hp slimline 3000 computer.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005ZKFXL6/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

I could not get the sata power connector to plug into the hard drive. I then looked at it closely and noticed it only had 12 pins instead of 15.

I've never heard of that and couldn't find any info about it. Is this a mistake on the power supply?

It's looking like my only solution would be to order a converter from the molex to sata. Is there something obvious I am missing here.

Thank you,

Landon

I forgot to mention that right in the description of this power supply, it says 15 pin sata, but they both only have 12. They will not go into the hard drive or the dvd-rom drive.

A pic would help.

Sounds like despite the description you got the wrong PSU.

For that proprietary PC * I would get an exact OEM match. Anything else is asking for trouble.

*Flex is supposed to be a standard but even the manufactures of it mislabel them. Micro, MiniATX, Flex ATX are often not correctly marked.

For whatever reason this connector didn't fit, I used some molex to sata converters and that did the trick. To my eyes, they looked exactly the same. The converters also only had the 12 pins but it fit right in and works fine.

Still a mystery I guess lol.

And yeah I couldn't find the exact oem power supply so I found an equivalent that worked.

Thank you
