there is another way and you can avoid the headaches you just encountered.
1.Using the original machine boot into windows
2.pop in the version of windows xp currently on machine
3. click install
4. choose the upgrade option for the type of install
5. follow the prompts until the computer restarts
6. turn off the computer as it restarts
7. take the HD out of original machine and install it into new machine
8. start new machine and get into the bios to change time and date to current time and date and also make sure you change the boot order to boot from cd first
9. save your bios settings and let the comp restart but DO NOT push any keys to boot from cd because you want the upgrade install to continue
10. Smile since setup will install HAL, any HD controllers, and whatever drivers the new board needs and if it doesnt than you will ofcourse need the mobo driver disc when the upgrade install finishes.
