Anyone know how to add autobackup4tech to a WinPE image?

I've only just started with WinPE and only a some portable apps added to a folder work and many don't.

Autobackup is one that doesn't. All I've done is to copy the unzipped files into a folder and try to run the exe file, like I did with the portable apps which work. What do I need to do to get Autobackup working?

The error I get is the "exception unknown software exception (0x0eedfade) occurred in the application at location"

Thx

I did search but what I found appears to be for BartPE rather then WinPE - I've not seen where they are interchangable.

I emailed Fab and he's not had it working on PE 2.0 or 3.0 either so it looks like it's not a trivial procedure.

There is also the option of using USMT as a back-up solution. Version 4.0 has an offline switch that allows you to do it from a WinPE environment. Another advantage would be that it's highly customizable. The disadvantages, however, would be that it only works (Version 4 that is, which contains a shadow copy and offline switch) on Vista+, and it's not a simple "Plug-and-play" program like Fab's, but requires time be put into it to customize the backup to your liking. Probably more than you wanted to do, but it's an option.

I have Fabs Autobackup 4 working in Win7 Pe
There is a script creator in Winbuilder.

Hi,

I am Fab's AutoBackup's developper.
Can you tell me more about the way you got V4 vorking under WinPE ? I would like to provide instructions for this on my website and the user's manual. BartPE is great but supporting WinPE 2.0 and 3.0 would be a great addition.

Thanks

Fab

I got it to work using make_pe3 with windows explorer. I do not have a link because I am on the move (posting this message from cell phone).

It works great this way. I choose "media" build. Once the ISO is built, I use wintoflash to put all the stuff on the thumbdrive or external USB drive. If you choose an external hdd, you can convert it to ntfs to be able to write files bigger than 4 GB.

I guess that win7pe se (win builder based) should do the trick as well. The only thing you need with this kind of boot media is a windows explorer.
