I need to tear down an Advent Firefly FP9004, however there's a plate stopping me from getting to the motherboard properly.

Spent ages looking at it, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove it. Any ideas?

The front cover comes off by pressing the clips. After having another look, it appears that the plate needs to slide towards the back so it can be lifted off but it won't budge.

More I looked at this, I think you may need to figure out how to access the retainers that I suspect are at the points in green.

Without actually seeing it this is purely guesswork. I'd have thought it maybe a push in/slide cassette that holds the dvd etc.

If it is push in/slide they may take a bit of force to move if not touched for ages

Asked Advent support?

I hate those kind of chassis. Unless you can find tear down docs you end up sitting in front of them for an hour probing and picking and forcing to near breaking until you figure it out.

Recently I had a HP mini tower that you had to pop the exposed sides tabs but it would not give. I had to force it to finally release but it was almost to a point of breaking and I did not enjoy the process I can assure you.

Tell me about it NYJimbo.. I had one just like you. After looking at it and taking everything off that I could the answer seemed obvious, but I was applying a LOT of force to try to get that thing to slide. Ended up using a 10" long square-shaft Klein screwdriver and prying it out. Sure enough that was the way it was supposed to go.. POS.

I managed to get the plate off after unscrewing every single screw on the case. Turns out that its held in place with two screws at the front which when you look at them, look like they're holding the hard drive in place.
