Any experience with Gel Printers?

I've stumbled across a Ricoh Aficio SG 3100SNW which is a Gel Printer (or, using Ricoh's terminology, a printer that uses GelSprinter technology).

I've never actually heard of Gel printing, but it appears to be a different technology than inkjet printers, using a waterproof ink that dries instantly, thus allowing for reasonably high speed duplexing.

I haven't found much online in the way of reviews, either of this particular model, or the gel printing technology in general. I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with Gel printers that they would like to share.

Thanks!

Brian.

I have sold the Ricoh Gel models about 3-4 years ago. Good units and decent cost per page but the price of the units where more money.

What did you need help with them about?

Epson now has their pro c series which offer a 3 year warranty and also lower cost per page than most laser printers.....awaiting to start selling them shortly.

I didn't have specific questions. More just looking for general opinions - good or bad, reliable or junk, inexpensive or expensive - that type of thing.

The one I came across has a wholesale price of less then 200, with some nice features - Wi-Fi, duplex, large paper tray, to name a few. Don't remember the specific model right now, but it intrigued me enough to do some looking.

Thanks!
