Any free alternative to GetDataBack?

I have a drive on the bench that I am trying to recover data from. It seems that GetDataBack is the only thing I have tried that finds the data in it's original folder structure. Partition Find and Mount isn't working, and the only other option I know is to format the drive and do an actual recovery... but then I lose the folder structure. And the thought of wading through hundreds of thousands of files and guessing what they might want is not appealing.

Anyway, is GetDataBack one of a kind in the way it works? Is there a free software out there that works similarly? I sure don't mind paying for a useful piece of software.. just wanted to get some thoughts on it. The way it works, it almost seems like a "must have" piece of software..

Thanks!

It's only a hundred bucks. Cough it up and reward the author for his work. :))

I agree with you completely on rewarding the author... and would agree about the only a hundred bucks part if I wasn't so poor :)

Just trying to make sure if I do spend the money that I am getting the best option, or avoiding doing it and finding out next week that xyz software does the same thing for free...

I did a Google search and found this product from Runtime.

Is this the software you bought?
It says $79 for NTFS version with lifetime support.
Please advise as I too have been looking for such a tool.
