Anybody purchased data recovery hardware?

That is more than I feel comfortable spending. Hmm. Maybe sometime in the future.

My understanding was that the PC3K+DE plus DDI would total around $11-12,000, so a lot of money unless you pull in lots of DR business and take a long-term perspective.

Another less costly but also less capable option, would be something like a DFL-DDR, which is $3,000 shipped and does much of what a DDI does plus some common but limited firmware repairs. I bought the DFL-DE for $2,000, which is nearly identical to the DDP but limited to USB 2.0 speeds, and is lacking a couple of DDP features I would almost never need. The DE does file extraction at around 100GB/hr vs 400GB/hr for the DDP. They have a trade-in policy that lets you exchange the DE for the DDP for the difference in price. I'm very pleased with the DFL-DE so far, and I've had it less than a week. Neither is a PC3K though, in terms of capability (and complexity and price).

That sound like a nice choice that will show a ROI very fast.
